China Steel Corporation RC30 steel receives green product certification

China Steel Corporation (CSC) has announced that its RC30 electrical steel has successfully passed the Ministry of Economic Affairs' certification for resource-recycled green products. This marks the company's second such certification, following its previous achievement with IF automotive steel.

The RC30 product contains 30% recycled material. By utilizing advanced technologies such as converter thermal energy compensation and secondary refining vacuum degassing, CSC has increased its scrap steel blending ratio to over 31%, compared to the typical 10% in conventional converter processes. This increase in recycled content helps reduce carbon emissions by approximately 0.3 metric tons per ton of steel produced.

This certification is intended to bolster the competitiveness of CSC and its downstream customers in international markets, particularly in response to the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and similar regulatory discussions in the United States, United Kingdom, and Japan. Electrical steel is a critical component for high-efficiency industrial motors, home appliances, electric vehicles, and drones.
