China targets 725 million tons of grain production by 2030

China has unveiled its five-year agricultural plan for 2026–2030, aiming to increase grain production capacity to 725 million tons by 2030. This represents a target increase of approximately 10 million tons over current levels.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs stated that the plan prioritizes maintaining food self-sufficiency and ensuring a stable supply of major crops. Beyond standard grains, the government will place special emphasis on increasing the production of soybeans, oilseeds, cotton, and sugar.

To achieve these goals, China intends to rely heavily on technological advancements. Key strategies include the implementation of water-saving technologies, precision fertilization, the use of intelligent agricultural machinery, and the development of high-yield plant varieties. Digital solutions and eco-friendly production models are also central to the strategy to drive efficiency.
