China targets leadership in open-source technology and AI

Open-source technology serves as the foundation of the global digital economy, powering essential tools such as operating systems, web servers, databases, and encryption protocols. While the United States and Europe have historically led this sector, China is increasingly integrating open-source development into its national technology strategy to create alternatives and reduce reliance on foreign control.
