China tech startups secure major funding for AI and robotics
Several Chinese technology startups are securing significant funding to advance artificial intelligence and robotics.
Qunqing Intelligence, an industrial robotics manufacturer founded by Tsinghua University graduates, has raised approximately 2.4 billion yen (100 million yuan). The company focuses on addressing labor shortages in the welding sector—estimated at 3 to 5 million workers—by using its proprietary 'Lapis' physical AI model to create autonomous industrial AI agents capable of understanding complex physical environments.
Zhipu AI has announced a major financing round of approximately $5 billion, consisting of $2 billion in share placement and $3 billion in convertible bonds. The capital is earmarked for the development of its next-generation GLM foundation models and a 'fully self-training' system designed to improve model reasoning and computational efficiency.
In the consumer sector, Futuring Robot has raised approximately 24 billion yen (1 billion yuan) for its pre-series A round. The startup develops wheel-based humanoid robots designed for home use, such as assisting children with education, performing light housework, and pet care. The company utilizes a proprietary 'AVLA' architecture and a 'Self-Evolving World Action Model' to enable robots to learn from real-world domestic data.
