China threatens to cancel Xi-Trump summit over Taiwan arms sales
China has warned that it may cancel an upcoming summit between President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump, scheduled for September 24 at the White House, if the United States approves new arms sales to Taiwan. Beijing has reiterated that the Taiwan issue remains a “red line” in bilateral relations. This tension follows a previous $11 billion arms package announced by the Trump administration last December.
