China to host World Organization for Scientific Literacy announcement
The China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) has announced that the 2026 World Conference on Scientific Literacy will be held in Beijing from September 19 to 21. During this event, the official establishment of the World Organization for Scientific Literacy will be announced.
The new organization aims to create a global platform for shared discussion, collaborative development, and mutual benefit regarding public science initiatives. It seeks to promote international exchange, foster innovation, and encourage positive interaction between science, technology, and society to address global challenges and sustainable development.
Currently, the organization has 32 founding members, including 20 foreign entities from 19 countries across Asia, Europe, South America, Africa, and Oceania. Participating institutions include national academies of sciences, science and technology foundations, scientific societies, and science museums.
