China to launch global vocational education standards framework

China's Ministry of Education has announced the upcoming publication of a global framework for vocational and technical education standards. The initiative aims to facilitate the mutual recognition of professional qualifications and educational standards across different nations.

Developed using Chinese practices and global expertise, the framework covers key areas including governance, systems, values, and support measures. The project has involved consultations with educational authorities and industrial departments from over 40 countries, with 46 nations already expressing support.

The official release is scheduled for the World Conference on Vocational and Technical Education Development 2026, to be held in Tianjin from October 15 to 17. China currently operates the world's largest vocational education system, producing more than 10 million graduates annually. Additionally, the country has established 38 Luban Workshops in 32 countries, providing training to over 30,000 students.
