China Tornadoes and Floods Kill at Least 20 People

Severe weather across several Chinese provinces, including Hebei, Guangxi and Guangdong, caused tornadoes, floods and landslides that left at least 20 people dead and more than 330 injured. The storms toppled 22 buildings, damaged 4,855 others and forced the evacuation of roughly 48,000 residents. Rescue teams launched a large‑scale operation, moving displaced people to safe locations and working to prevent secondary disasters.

Authorities upgraded flood warnings to the highest level in Guangxi and issued a red alert for Guangdong, while ongoing rescue efforts continue at sites where landslides buried dozens of villagers.
