China unveils 15th Five-Year Plan for light industry and textiles

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Commerce, and State Administration for Market Regulation have jointly issued the ‘15th Five-Year Plan’ for the light industry and textile sectors. The plan aims to drive new quality productive forces and move traditional industries toward the higher end of the global value chain.

Key objectives include achieving world-leading levels in the textile industry and increasing the revenue of enterprises above a designated size to over 30 trillion yuan by 2030. The roadmap emphasizes five major directions and 14 key tasks, focusing on intelligent, green, and integrated development.

Strategic priorities include strengthening original innovation and breakthroughs in core technologies, such as high-end textile equipment and new fiber materials. The plan also calls for the integration of artificial intelligence across the supply chain, the development of vertical large models, and the promotion of energy-saving technologies to foster a low-carbon manufacturing model.
