China unveils five-year plan for emergency response industry

China has released a five-year plan to advance its safety and emergency response equipment industry. Jointly published by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Emergency Management, the plan aims to significantly enhance the sector's scale, technological capabilities, and product quality by 2030.

The initiative targets a production value in key areas of 1.4 trillion yuan (approximately 206.22 billion USD) by 2030. Key objectives include making progress in critical technologies, expanding application scenarios, and fostering the growth of internationally competitive leading enterprises.

The industry has already seen rapid growth, with production values in key areas exceeding 1 trillion yuan in 2025. Recent advancements include the use of drones and satellite communication systems for flood control and disaster response. Additionally, previous guidelines set targets to achieve progress in over 20 key technologies and develop more than 20 types of innovative equipment by the end of 2027.
