China and India respond to border tensions in Arunachal Pradesh
China's Foreign Ministry has called on India to uphold existing agreements and take concrete steps to maintain peace and stability along the border in Arunachal Pradesh. Speaking in Beijing, spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that China strictly abides by relevant agreements and conducts routine patrols to safeguard its territorial sovereignty.
The remarks follow reports of face-offs between soldiers along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) previously noted that border situations are disturbed when Chinese forces diverge from established patrolling patterns.
Both nations confirmed they are maintaining communication through diplomatic and military channels to resolve outstanding issues and prevent misunderstandings or miscalculations. The two sides have also agreed to discuss methods for improving the understanding of the LAC in specific areas to enhance border management.
