Nvidia in talks to invest further in or acquire Reflection AI

Nvidia is reportedly in early-stage discussions to either increase its investment in or fully acquire the open-source AI startup Reflection AI. Nvidia has already provided $800 million in funding to the company.

To potentially bypass lengthy regulatory reviews, the deal might be structured as an ‘acqui-hire,’ where Nvidia would hire Reflection AI’s staff and license its technology rather than conducting a traditional buyout. A final agreement could be reached within weeks, though negotiations remain uncertain.

Founded in 2024 by former DeepMind researchers Misha Laskin and Ioannis Antonoglou, Reflection AI focuses on automating software development. The company recently launched Beam, an open-weight AI model designed to compete with Chinese models like DeepSeek in coding and agentic tasks. Reflection AI was previously reported to be seeking capital at a pre-money valuation of $25 billion.
