China vessel departs for Brazil to build Salvador-Itaparica Bridge
The CRCC Bridge Piling No. 1, the world's largest vessel for pile driving with a dynamic positioning system, has departed from the port of Lusi in China's Jiangsu province. The ship is en route to Bahia, Brazil, to support the construction of the Salvador-Itaparica Bridge, one of Brazil's major ongoing infrastructure projects.
The vessel, built by the China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), is 130.5 meters long and features a 156-meter-high piling tower. It is capable of lifting piles weighing up to 700 tons. The journey to the Brazilian coast is expected to take approximately 45 days, covering 11,300 nautical miles via the Strait of Malacca, the Cape of Good Hope, and the South Atlantic.
