China video game market exceeds $50 billion in revenue
The Chinese video game market exceeded $50 billion in revenue for the first time in 2025, according to a report by Niko Partners. Total revenues reached $51.8 billion, representing a 5.4% increase compared to 2024.
Projections suggest continued growth, with the market potentially reaching $53.9 billion this year. By 2030, the sector is expected to hit $59.8 billion, maintaining a compound annual growth rate of 2.9% over the five-year period. Key metrics include the average annual revenue per player, which surpassed $70 in 2025 and is projected to reach $77.68 by 2030, alongside a user base expected to grow to 769 million people.
Niko Partners identifies several drivers for this sustained evolution, including the integration of generative AI in game development, the growth of niche genres, and improved publisher margins through enhanced off-app monetization and new direct monetization models linked to intellectual property.
