China wind turbine transport via narrow mountain roads

Footage released by CGTN shows a truck transporting a massive wind turbine blade along a narrow, winding dirt road in the Nanling Mountains of Hunan Province, southern China. The transport involves specialized trucks and trailers equipped with hydraulic lifting systems that allow the blade to tilt up to 60 degrees. This mechanism helps the oversized load navigate tight curves, steep inclines, and obstacles such as trees and power lines.

Reports on the dimensions of the blade vary, with some sources citing a 52-meter piece being moved to the top of Mount Baoding, while others report a component measuring 118 meters and weighing 40 tons. Due to the high altitude and the nature of the cargo, drivers face significant risks from steep precipices and sudden weather changes, as strong gusts can destabilize the wind-catching blades during transit.
