China wins 14th consecutive Asian Games gymnastics gold
At the Nagoya Asian Games, the Chinese women's gymnastics team secured the gold medal in the team final with a total score of 166.462. This victory marks the 14th consecutive Asian Games title for the Chinese women's team in this event since 1974. The winning squad included Ke Qinqin, Zhang Qingying, Qiu Qiyuan, Zhang Yihan, and Du Siyu.
In individual competition, 51-year-old Uzbekistani gymnast Oksana Chusovitina made history by competing in her seventh Asian Games. Competing in the vault qualifications, she earned a score of 13.266, placing her fourth among the athletes who had competed at that stage. Chusovitina expressed that her primary goal is to enjoy the sport and the process, noting her desire to potentially qualify for the Los Angeles Olympics.
