China women's basketball recovers with overtime win over Czech Republic

The China women's national basketball team recovered from a significant opening defeat at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup by securing a 74-70 overtime victory against the Czech Republic. Following a demoralizing 94-61 loss to the United States in their first match, China relied on a double-double from center Han Xu, who recorded 22 points and 14 rebounds, to overcome a late deficit and force overtime.

The initial loss to the United States drew domestic criticism in China regarding the team's offensive flow and passive defensive tactics. Despite the setback, the win against the Czech Republic keeps China's tournament campaign active. In other tournament action, the United States faced its most difficult challenge in two decades, narrowly defeating Italy 55-52.
