China's 360 Security launches AI tools to counter US Anthropic export ban

The U.S. government has barred the export of Anthropic's advanced AI models Mythos and its less‑capable version Fable 5, citing national‑security concerns. In response, Chinese cybersecurity firm 360 Security Technology unveiled two AI‑driven security products at the ISC AI 2026 conference in Beijing. Founder Zhou Hongyi presented Tulongfeng, an AI system that automatically discovers software vulnerabilities, calling it "China's version of Mythos," and Yitianzhen, which automates cyber‑defence and incident response. Zhou warned that allowing only U.S. entities access to such tools creates a "one‑way transparency" risk.

At the same time, Tokyo‑based startup Sakana AI launched the Fugu model, which the company says stands "shoulder‑to‑shoulder" with Anthropic's Mythos and Fable 5. Targeting Japanese businesses and government agencies, Fugu is positioned as a hedge against tightening export controls while still acknowledging a performance gap of 20‑30 % compared with U.S. models. Both launches illustrate an accelerating AI‑cyber arms race in Asia as firms seek to reduce reliance on foreign frontier AI amid growing export restrictions.
