China's advanced manufacturing and economic landscape undergo structural shifts
Reports from Industrial Securities and Guoyuan Securities highlight significant structural transformations within China's economy and manufacturing sectors. Key drivers include a transition from quantitative growth to qualitative transformation, increased technological self-reliance, and the rapid commercialization of artificial intelligence.
In the manufacturing sector, industrial robot output rose 33.2% and integrated circuit production increased 24.3% year on year in the first quarter of 2026. The 15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Electronic Information Manufacturing Industry aims for annual revenues exceeding RMB 30 trillion for large enterprises and an R&D intensity of 3.5% by 2030. This plan includes 17 initiatives focused on the integrated circuit supply chain and AI hardware infrastructure.
In the AI domain, competition is moving toward cost and efficiency advantages across the full supply chain. Additionally, analysts suggest that China is ascending within the global economic framework, with Chinese equities potentially transitioning toward independent pricing as the traditional center-periphery global economic structure breaks down.
