China's daily chip output exceeds 1.5 billion units, targeting 37% of global capacity by 2026

China's semiconductor industry is producing more than 1.5 billion integrated‑circuit chips each day, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. In the first half of the year the cumulative output reached around 280 billion units, a 23.1% year‑on‑year increase.

The rapid expansion is expected to raise mainland China's share of worldwide chip capacity to 37% by 2026 and possibly 42% by 2028, especially in the mainstream 22‑40 nm processes. Growth is being driven by high‑technology sectors such as artificial‑intelligence applications, with domestic firms like Huawei designing and mass‑producing hundreds of new chips under its "time‑scaling" approach.

Despite ongoing U.S. export controls on advanced technology, the Chinese government and industry continue to invest heavily in production capabilities, positioning the country as a dominant player in the global semiconductor market.
