China’s Guangxi Police Rescue Flood‑Stranded Residents Amid Typhoon‑Induced Torrents

Heavy rain from Typhoon “Meysha ke” caused severe flooding, landslides and road collapses across Guangxi province. In Jinxi Yao Autonomous County, police officers, including Party member Jiang Yunlong, entered fast‑flowing mud‑water to rescue a villager trapped in his home and later helped more than 20 residents evacuate from nearby villages. In Nanning’s Hengzhou, officers used a drone to locate a pregnant woman stuck in floodwaters and deployed a rescue boat to bring her and other trapped civilians to safety.

President Xi Jinping has repeatedly stressed the need for swift rescue, medical care and shelter for flood‑affected people, issuing directives that cover Guangxi, Hubei and Gansu. The central government’s recent flood‑relief plan calls for “all‑out” emergency response, greater investment in disaster preparedness and a modernized emergency management system to protect lives and property.
