China's Hubei Giga World Robot launches household humanoid robot trial

Hubei Giga World Robot, a robotics firm based in Wuhan, China, announced a pilot program to place 100 SeeLight S1 humanoid household robots in Chinese homes for free testing starting in the third quarter of 2026. The SeeLight S1 is designed to handle a wide range of domestic chores, including making beds, heating bread, cooking, pouring milk, setting tables, loading laundry, cleaning bathrooms, scrubbing toilets, folding clothes, arranging furniture, watering plants and feeding fish.

The robot uses an AI model that can recognize its environment, understand everyday spoken language and adapt its actions in real time, even when objects are moved or interfered with. Developers say the system continuously learns from daily use, improving its performance over time. Over 2,000 people have already expressed interest via the company’s WeChat channel. Pricing is projected between 50,000 and 100,000 yuan (US$ 7,000‑14,000), with costs expected to fall as production scales. Morgan Stanley forecasts the global humanoid robot market could reach $5 trillion by 2050, with China leading the deployment of over 300 million units.
