China's Humanoid Robot Industry Reaches Commercial Turning Point in 2026
In the first half of 2026 China's humanoid robot sector recorded rapid technical gains and a surge in commercial orders. Companies such as Duolun Technology and Zhongqing Robot introduced a “smart traffic‑management robot” that mimics police hand signals, identifies violations and operates in cities including Shenzhen, Nanjing, Changsha and Jingzhou. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology highlighted that robots now “stand, walk, run” reliably and are moving from demonstrations to household and factory use. Prices have fallen sharply, with some models now sold for under 100,000 yuan, and analysts project the sector could exceed 100,000 units in annual output.
Policy support intensified: the 15‑Year Plan added embodied intelligence to its strategic industries, and provincial governments launched subsidies and data‑collection programs. Financing activity rose five‑fold year‑on‑year, with Zhongqing securing a US$200 million Series B round and multiple firms approaching IPO readiness. Additionally, Guangzhou announced a five‑year plan to draft 70 new regulations, including a specific measure to promote the embodied‑intelligence robot industry, signalling further regulatory backing for commercial deployment.
