Moonshot secured a computing agreement with Alibaba Group that provides roughly 20,000 Nvidia chips for training Kimi K3. The chips are said to be from Nvidia’s Hopper generation, with reports naming H200 accelerators, although Alibaba has denied supplying H200s. U.S. officials allege that Moonshot also accessed newer Blackwell‑class chips through Southeast‑Asian intermediaries, potentially breaching export‑control rules.

The company raised $3.5 billion in a funding round, valuing Moonshot at $35 billion. Kimi K3 is now offered through Microsoft’s Foundry platform via Fireworks AI, giving developers a high‑capacity, open‑weight option for long‑context tasks such as coding and complex reasoning.
