China's 'Three Novelties' Economy Boosts 2025 GDP by 6.2%

China's National Bureau of Statistics reported that the added value of the "three novelties" economy – comprising new sectors, new business forms and new commercial models – reached nearly 25.79 trillion yuan (about US$3.8 billion) in 2025, a 6.2 % year‑on‑year increase. The share of this economy in national GDP rose to 18.39 %, up 0.38 percentage points from the previous year.

Sector‑by‑sector, the primary sector contributed 986.5 billion yuan (3.8 % of the total), the secondary sector 10.63 trillion yuan (41.2 %), and the tertiary sector 14.17 trillion yuan (55 %). High‑tech manufacturing continued its rapid expansion, posting a 13.3 % increase in industrial added value in the first half of 2026.
