China’s President Xi Jinping calls on overseas Chinese to aid national rejuvenation
Chinese President Xi Jinping, also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission, delivered an instruction at the National Conference on Overseas Chinese Affairs in Beijing urging overseas Chinese and returned expatriates to mobilise their networks, expertise and resources to support China’s development and the goal of national reunification. He called for full implementation of Party policies relating to overseas Chinese and highlighted the contribution of more than 60 million Chinese living in nearly 200 countries and over 40 million returned overseas Chinese.
Wang Huning, a member of the Party’s Politburo Standing Committee and chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, echoed Xi’s message, urging stronger efforts to promote high‑quality development in overseas Chinese affairs and to align diaspora activities with China’s “new‑era” strategic priorities.
