China's top gaming firms show split earnings as overseas, IP and AI drive growth
Mid‑year earnings forecasts for leading Chinese game companies reveal a sharp K‑type split. Century Huatong projects net profit of 4.3‑4.8 billion yuan, up over 60%, while Giant Network expects a 20‑22 billion‑yuan profit rise of up to 183%. In contrast, Perfect World forecasts a loss of 80‑120 million yuan and other peers see widening deficits. Analysts attribute the divergence to three growth engines: aggressive overseas releases such as Century Games' "Whiteout Survival" and Giant Network's "Tomb Busters", expanding intellectual‑property ecosystems exemplified by Kaiying Network’s legend‑based titles, and AI‑driven production tools that have boosted profitability at companies like Youzu Network.
Separately, Taiwan's large‑cap listed companies (capital ≥ 50 billion NT$) released June revenue figures for 242 firms. Over a third posted year‑over‑year growth above 25 %, with Xin Xing Electronics leading both YoY and MoM growth at NT$148.97 billion. Other top gainers included Diamond Biotech, Far Eastern, and Nan Ya Technology, highlighting strong momentum in electronics, construction and semiconductor sectors.
