Chinese AI adoption projected to reach 50% of global enterprises by 2027

Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) development is rapidly advancing in both performance and cost-effectiveness, according to reports from Gartner and industry analysts. Gartner projects that the adoption rate of Chinese AI models among global enterprises will surge from 5% last year to 50% by 2027.

Major Chinese tech players are aggressively expanding their capabilities. ByteDance is reportedly pre-training a massive new AI model with approximately 10 trillion parameters, significantly exceeding the scale of current leading models. Meanwhile, Moonshot AI's 'Kimi K3' has demonstrated performance levels comparable to top-tier US models from OpenAI and Anthropic while maintaining a much lower price point. Alibaba has also introduced 'Qwen 3.8 Max,' focusing on autonomous AI agents and complex coding tasks.

The technical gap between China and the United States is narrowing, with some experts estimating the lag has shrunk from several months to just two or three. Beyond software, China's influence is expected to grow in AI infrastructure; Gartner predicts that domestic semiconductors could account for over 50% of China's AI infrastructure by 2030 as local firms accelerate development to mitigate US export restrictions.
