Chinese Ambassador visits Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas

The Chinese Ambassador to Greece, Fang Qiu, visited the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH) on September 29, 2026. Accompanied by a diplomatic and business delegation, the Ambassador met with FORTH leadership, including President Vassilis Charmandaris and Vice President Panagiotis Tsakalidis, to discuss strengthening ties between Greek and Chinese research and academic institutions.

Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in high-tech sectors such as lasers, molecular biology, artificial intelligence, and green technology. A key highlight of the visit was the presentation of the ‘China-Greece Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Cultural Heritage Conservation Technology.’ This joint laboratory, developed in collaboration with the Forbidden City Museum, utilizes photonic applications and laser technology for the modern conservation of cultural heritage.
