Chinese automaker Chery launches three new brands and plug‑in hybrid SUVs in Italy

At the Milan‑Monza Motor Show (June 26‑28 2026), China’s Chery Group unveiled a multimarca stand that adds its own brand, Lepas and iCAUR to the Omoda & Jaecoo lineup already sold in Italy. The debut includes the plug‑in hybrid SUVs Tiggo 8 (279 hp) and Tiggo 9 (428 hp, seven‑seat, all‑wheel‑drive) slated for sale in the third‑quarter of 2026, both equipped with advanced infotainment, head‑up display and multiple ADAS features.

Lepas entered the market with the L8 SUV (plug‑in hybrid, 279 hp, over 1,000 km combined range) available for order from July 2026 and the compact L6, offered in both plug‑in hybrid and fully electric versions with up to 450 km WLTP range. The iCAUR brand presented the V27 off‑road SUV, a range‑extender vehicle expected in early 2027, featuring a 1.5‑liter engine plus two electric motors and a 1,000 km total range.

The show also highlighted Omoda & Jaecoo’s continued growth, with 4,096 units registered in May 2026, a 2.7 % market share and more than 17,000 registrations in the first five months of the year. Chery’s expanded portfolio aims to strengthen its position in Italy’s transitioning electric‑vehicle market.
