Chinese automakers expand SUV lineups with Arcfox and Avatr models

Chinese automotive manufacturers are expanding their electric and hybrid SUV offerings. Arcfox, a brand under BAIC Group, is scheduled to launch its Alpha T7 SUV on September 16. The vehicle, which is available in both battery-electric and extended-range powertrain options, has already seen significant interest, with pre-orders exceeding 30,000 units within 72 hours of pre-sales opening. The Alpha T7 is positioned for the mainstream market with competitive pricing starting at 137,800 yuan ($20,330) after subsidies.

Separately, the luxury brand Avatr, part of the Changan group, has previewed its new flagship plug-in hybrid SUV, the T09. The vehicle is expected to enter the Australian market and features a six-seat configuration. The T09 will utilize ternary lithium batteries from CATL and is supported by technology from Huawei. The model will offer two powertrain options involving turbocharged petrol engines paired with various electric motor configurations.
