Chinese automakers Hongqi and Maextro launch new premium vehicle models
Chinese automotive manufacturers are introducing new premium models to the market. Hongqi, a brand under the FAW Group, is preparing to debut the refreshed HS5 crossover at the Chengdu Auto Show. The updated model features a redesigned exterior with new light groups and bumpers, alongside a significant interior overhaul that includes a new dashboard, separate screens for instruments and multimedia, and a redesigned central tunnel.
In the luxury minivan segment, the Maextro V800—a collaboration between Huawei and JAC Motors under the HIMA platform—has seen strong initial demand. The vehicle recorded 2,115 orders within its first hour of sales, following 10,000 pre-sales reservations. The V800 utilizes a range-extender system combining a 1.5-liter turbo petrol generator with dual electric motors to produce 530 hp. The flagship edition, priced at approximately 1 million yuan (around 135,000 euros), includes high-end amenities such as an onboard coffee and tea maker and active rear-axle steering for improved maneuverability.
