Chinese automakers launch new eco‑vehicles at Hong Kong 2026 auto show

At the 2026 Hong Kong International Automotive & Supply Chain Expo, Chinese manufacturers showcased a range of low‑emission vehicles aimed at the city’s carbon‑neutral goals. Geely’s Farizon unit displayed a lineup of methanol‑electric range‑extended vehicles, including a two‑level bus, taxis, a light‑duty truck and a marine engine, all designed to meet Hong Kong’s emission limits ahead of a planned commercial rollout in August. The company announced a partnership with CaoCao to produce 100,000 Farizon Robovan units by 2030 as part of its “One Geely” strategy.

DFSK, the SERES Group brand, unveiled the right‑hand‑drive (RHD) version of its E5 PLUS model. Powered by the SERES Super Hybrid System, the E5 PLUS offers up to 1,200 km WLTP range and advanced driver‑assist features such as lane‑centering and adaptive cruise control. The launch underscores DFSK’s push into global markets, with production facilities in Indonesia and Vietnam supporting rapid response to local demand. Amy Gong, president of DFSK, said the model “marks the beginning of a comprehensive renewal of our product portfolio.”

Reuters reported that Chinese brands such as BYD, Zeekr, Hongqi and MG are also targeting affluent buyers in right‑hand‑drive markets, outpacing Japanese rivals in Hong Kong where EVs now account for over 80 % of new private cars. UBS analyst Paul Gong noted that rising oil prices have revitalised China’s EV sector, giving these manufacturers a competitive edge.
