Chinese automakers release new vehicle software updates
Several Chinese automotive manufacturers have announced significant over-the-air (OTA) software updates to enhance driving, safety, and cockpit experiences.
Nio has launched the Cedar Intelligent System 1.6.0 for its ET9, ES9, and new ES8 models. The update includes over 60 optimizations, such as improved digital cockpit interactions, enhanced Dolby Atmos audio modes, and new safety features. The system can now identify disaster events like fires or flooding, triggering alerts and automatically raising the vehicle suspension during water immersion incidents.
BYD has released an OTA update for the Yangwang U8, covering multiple model years. Key additions include a customizable Sentry Mode with trusted location settings to save power, the official launch of Apple CarPlay via a windowed interface, and improved off-road interface memory for the e4 platform. The update also introduces safety alerts for unclosed doors during auto-parking and seatbelt vibrations if the driver is detached from the steering wheel during assisted driving.
Dongfeng Nissan has announced the first OTA update for its NX8 model. Built on the Tianyan 2.0 architecture, the NX8 supports multi-domain updates across power, chassis, body, cockpit, and assisted driving. The update aims to improve the NISSAN OS 2.0 system and the AI voice assistant, Little Ni, which supports over 700 smart scenarios.
