Chinese automotive brands expand presence in Italian market
Chinese automotive brands are increasingly gaining traction in the Italian market, shifting consumer perception from skepticism to active interest. According to an Areté survey, three out of four Italians express readiness to purchase a Chinese vehicle, driven by competitive pricing and high perceived quality in technology, materials, and driver assistance systems.
For Italian dealers, the arrival of brands such as BYD, Leapmotor, OMODA, and Jaecoo presents both opportunities and challenges. While these brands offer competitive electric and hybrid options that can help dealers in a market currently struggling with low volumes and margins, they also introduce new models of sales and customer relationships.
Despite the advantages of rapid technological development and high equipment levels at lower costs, some concerns remain among Italian consumers. Key uncertainties include the reliability of post-sales assistance, the availability of spare parts, and the potential resale value of Chinese vehicles as technology evolves rapidly.
