EPA announces energy deregulation to reduce US costs

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced a series of new deregulations targeting the oil and gas sectors. These revisions to the Clean Air Act aim to lower energy tariffs and production costs for Americans.

During a presidential visit to Lubbock, Texas, Secretary Lee Zeldin highlighted that the administration intends to move away from regulations established during the Biden era, which the current government views as barriers to national energy dominance. The administration reported that previous regulatory policies, such as the ‘endangerment finding,’ cost the United States approximately US$1.3 billion in regulatory expenses, contributing to higher vehicle prices and fuel costs.

According to data presented by the EPA, the administration’s initial deregulatory efforts have already resulted in significant savings, including over US$1.6 billion from the removal of certain energy and environmental policies and US$1.7 billion from delaying previous vehicle standards.
