China battery makers commit to 60‑day payments for suppliers
Eleven leading Chinese battery manufacturers, including CATL, BYD's FinDreams Battery, CALB, Eve Energy and Sunwoda, have pledged to pay small and medium‑sized suppliers within 60 calendar days. The initiative, issued jointly by the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA) and the China Energy Storage Alliance (CNESA), defines the payment period as starting from delivery or inspection and requires material inspections to be completed within seven working days.
The guidelines also encourage cash payments such as bank transfers, while urging a gradual reduction of commercial acceptance bills and electronic vouchers that can delay funds. The move is part of China’s broader effort to curb excessive competition in the power‑and‑energy‑storage battery sector and to improve liquidity for upstream firms. CATL said, “The health and stability of the supply chain is the foundation for high‑quality development of the industry,” underscoring the companies’ commitment to protect supplier rights and strengthen supply‑chain stability.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has voiced support, noting that the initiative aims to foster a win‑win development ecosystem across the battery industry.
