Chinese brands expand market presence in Singapore

Chinese brands are undergoing a strategic integration into the Singaporean consumer market, moving from manufacturers for global brands to prominent exporters of their own names. This shift is visible across multiple sectors, including automotive, food and beverage, and technology.

In the automotive industry, BYD has disrupted the traditional dominance of Japanese and European manufacturers. The Chinese automaker has been the top-selling passenger car brand in Singapore for 19 consecutive months, capturing 24.7% of the total market share between January and July 2026.

The food and beverage sector is also seeing significant changes with the aggressive expansion of Chinese mega-chains such as Chagee and Mixue. Additionally, Chinese tech giants and family offices are increasingly establishing their regional headquarters within the city.
