Hong Kong IPOs surge as AI‑driven semiconductor stocks rally worldwide

China’s leading optical‑transceiver maker Innolight launched a secondary listing in Hong Kong, raising about HK$53.4 billion (US$6.8 billion). The shares opened below the HK$980 offer price and closed 2 % lower at HK$960. A similar Hong Kong debut by optical‑module leader Zhongji Xuchuang also raised roughly HK$53.4 billion, with its stock slipping 2 % to HK$960 on the first day.

The IPOs came amid a broad rally in semiconductor‑related equities. On 31 July, A‑share technology stocks in mainland China surged, with ETFs on storage chips, optical modules and AI‑related sectors hitting daily limits and the Shanghai Composite up 0.76 %. Overseas, U.S. indices opened higher as AI‑focused chip and cloud stocks rebounded; Amazon jumped about 12 % after reporting strong cloud revenue, while the Nasdaq rose 1 % and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index gained over 4 %.

The rally was fuelled by three catalysts: a rare share‑buy‑back by SK Hynix’s chairman, Amazon’s 2026 capital‑expenditure hike to US$220 billion signalling sustained AI‑compute demand, and the liquidation of a large AI‑hedge‑fund position that removed selling pressure from the market.

Parallel to the market surge, AI‑infrastructure firms secured new capital. Texas‑based DataBahn closed a $40 million Series B round to build an “agentic data control plane” that routes and governs data for enterprise AI agents. In China, Capital Online (首都在线) announced a shift from traditional IDC services to AI‑compute, deploying a global two‑layer network covering more than 50 countries and reporting 180 % year‑on‑year revenue growth.

Together, the large Hong Kong listings, the global semiconductor rally, and fresh funding for AI‑infrastructure providers illustrate the accelerating capital flow into AI‑enabled hardware and data‑management layers.
