Chinese businessman Liu Kaixian discovered dead, bound in Malaysia river

Liu Kaixian, a 39‑year‑old Chinese businessman, was reported missing on 29 July. On 3 August his body was found in the Tanjung Semberong River near Parit Raja, Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The corpse was tightly bound at the hands and feet, swollen and showed signs of having been dead for several days. Local residents initially mistook the body for animal remains before alerting police. Assistant Police Commissioner Shahrul Anuar confirmed the discovery, and elected MP Jati posted on Facebook that the missing businessman had been located but had already died. The case remains under investigation.

The incident has drawn attention to the safety of foreign nationals in Malaysia, though no motive or cause of death has been released.
