Chinese carmakers unveil hybrid SUVs BJ30 and Jaecoo 5 in Czech Republic

Chinese automaker BAIC introduced the BJ30, a 4.7‑meter long SUV with a 1.5‑litre turbocharged engine combined with two electric motors, delivering 209 kW system power. priced at 879,900 CZK, the model features all‑wheel drive, a two‑stage hybrid transmission, 19‑inch tyres and a long wheel‑base for comfortable off‑road driving, though reviewers noted higher cabin noise and limited sportiness.

The joint venture brand Omoda & Jaecoo brought the Jaecoo 5 (SHS‑H) to the Czech market as a direct competitor to the Škoda Karoq. It pairs a 1.5‑litre gasoline engine with two electric motors, producing 224 hp and 295 Nm torque, achieving 5.3 L/100 km fuel consumption (WLTP) and a top speed of 175 km/h. Prices start at 639,000 CZK for the basic trim and 709,000 CZK for the fully equipped version, which includes a panoramic roof, premium audio and advanced driver‑assist systems. Both models are offered with a seven‑year warranty and are positioned to expand the presence of Chinese automotive brands in the Czech market.
