Chinese courts imprison Falun Gong practitioners in Zhejiang and Hebei

In Zhejiang's Jinhua city, Falun Gong practitioner Chen Yanhua was sentenced to four years in prison and a fine of 30,000 yuan by the Wucheng District Court. Her case follows a 2025 police summons, a brief period of bail pending trial, and charges of “using a cult organization to undermine law enforcement" alongside three other defendants. Chen is held at the Zhejiang Women's Prison in Hangzhou, with her term set to end in April 2030.

In Hebei's Tangshan city, police from the Guye District seized six Falun Gong members between 9‑11 June, transporting them to detention facilities without notifying families. Identified individuals include Zhang Xiujuan, Zhang Shufen, Miao Yongli, Ma Yingjie, Ji Sufeng and an elderly woman surnamed Wang. Some were later released on bail, while others remained detained in the city’s first detention center. The incidents involved forced home searches and confiscation of personal belongings.
