Chinese drama trailer faces criticism for excessive intimate scenes

The trailer for the upcoming Chinese drama ‘Promise to You a Thousand Miles of Stars’, starring Shen Yuqi and Cheng Lei, has drawn significant criticism following its release by iQIYI.

Viewers have expressed dissatisfaction with the promotional material, arguing that it focuses excessively on intimate scenes, including kissing and embracing, while failing to clearly introduce the central plot. Critics on social media suggest the trailer relies on ‘hot scenes’ for publicity rather than showcasing the script's depth or the actors' performances.

Despite the backlash regarding the marketing strategy, some viewers noted positive elements in the footage, such as scenic desert shots and high-speed racing sequences that promise dramatic action.
