Chinese driver kills Thai woman in Prachin Buri head-on collision
A Chinese national is facing investigation after a head-on collision in Prachin Buri, Thailand, resulted in the death of a Thai woman. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, October 17, on Road 3027 in the Si Maha Phot district.
Social media footage reportedly shows a black vehicle driven by the Chinese man traveling against the flow of traffic for more than 200 meters before striking a white sedan. The driver of the sedan, identified as Sunita, was pronounced dead at the scene despite resuscitation efforts by emergency responders. A second Thai woman traveling in the sedan was injured and transported to a hospital.
The driver and his companion, both of whom sustained minor injuries, reportedly left an entertainment venue prior to the crash. The driver told police he was unaware he was driving in the wrong direction and expressed intent to offer condolences to the victims' families. While reports suggest the men may have been under the influence of alcohol, official test results have not yet been released. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to determine formal charges.
