Chinese Embassy hosts Caribbean youth parliamentarians in Antigua

The Chinese Embassy in Antigua and Barbuda hosted a cultural exchange reception for young parliamentary representatives from several Eastern Caribbean territories. The event, held on October 20 in St. John’s, included delegates from Antigua and Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Anguilla, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Chinese Ambassador Jiang Wei emphasized the necessity of face-to-face dialogue to build trust and prevent misunderstandings, noting that modern communication technology alone is insufficient for deep mutual understanding. The program featured cultural activities, such as a China and Caribbean Friendship Wall, aimed at strengthening connections between Chinese and Caribbean youth.

Osbert Frederick, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Antigua and Barbuda, attended the gathering and praised the delegates for their contributions to regional parliamentary debates. He encouraged the participants to take responsibility for their own political futures.
