Chinese entertainers face scrutiny over concert stage attire

Performances by several female artists in China have sparked debate regarding the appropriateness of stage attire. Media outlets, including the digital news site Shangdu Xinwen, have called for corrections to what they describe as ‘revealing’ or ‘immodest’ clothing at recent concerts.

Several high-profile entertainers have been noted in the discussions. Zhao Lusi faced scrutiny for wearing lingerie-style outfits and short shorts during a concert in Bangkok, a departure from her previously sweet image. Other artists mentioned include Xue Kaiqi, whose silver fringe dress caused discussion during a Chongqing concert, and Shan Yichun, who wore a thin, rhinestone-studded outfit in Nanjing.

Additionally, Zhang Liangying faced criticism after removing a white T-shirt during a Hangzhou performance to reveal a black bodysuit, leading some fans to lament that the focus had shifted from her vocal talent to her physical appearance. Na Ying was also noted for her attire during a performance in Beijing.
