Automotive industry sees expansion of Chinese EV brands in Europe and Australia

The global automotive landscape is seeing significant shifts as Chinese manufacturers expand their presence in Europe and Australia. Leapmotor, distributed in Europe by Stellantis, is launching the B03X, a compact electric B-SUV designed for high practicality and competitive pricing, featuring a WLTP range of up to 382 km.

Chery Group is introducing the Lepas brand to Australia, targeting the mid-tier and entry-premium segments. The Lepas L6 electric SUV is set to debut in the fourth quarter of 2024, offering a 440 km WLTP range and advanced interior technology. The brand plans to roll out five models by 2028, including the L4 small SUV and various plug-in hybrid versions of the L8 and L9.

Other major developments include Lotus pivoting toward plug-in hybrids with the Eletre X to mitigate the impact of European tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles. Meanwhile, Zeekr has entered the European luxury SUV segment with the 9X, a high-performance super hybrid boasting 897 CV. In Switzerland, Skoda is launching the Epiq, a compact electric SUV designed to offer modern technology at an accessible price point.
