Chinese EV models achieve five-star Euro NCAP safety ratings
Three Chinese electric vehicle models—the GAC Aion UT, the Geely E2, and the Leapmotor B05—have achieved the maximum five-star safety rating under the new and more stringent 2026 Euro NCAP protocols.
The updated evaluation criteria place greater emphasis on driving assistance systems, accident prevention, and the protection of both vehicle occupants and vulnerable road users. The Geely E2 demonstrated particularly strong performance in post-impact safety, scoring 95%, and collision protection, scoring 86%.
These results signal the increasing competitiveness of Chinese manufacturers in the European market, specifically regarding safety standards. In the same testing round, the Cupra Raval received four stars with standard equipment, though it can reach five stars when equipped with an optional safety package.
