Chinese men's table tennis team fails to reach WTT Europe Smash quarter-finals

The Chinese men's singles table tennis team experienced a significant setback at the WTT Europe Smash in Sweden, where all participating male players failed to reach the quarter-finals. The streak of poor results follows similar outcomes at the US Smash and the Yokohama Champions, marking the third consecutive high-level WTT event without a Chinese male player advancing to the top eight.

In the most recent matches, Zhou Qihao lost 2-3 to Japan's Matsushima Teru in the round of 16. Other Chinese players, including Lin Shidong, Xiang Peng, Wen Ruibo, and Chen Junsong, were also eliminated earlier in the tournament. Analysts have pointed to issues such as insufficient competitiveness in the younger generation, mental instability during critical points, and a lack of resilience in international matches.

In contrast, the Chinese women's team maintained strong performance. Several players, including Wang Yidi, Shi Xunyao, Kuai Man, and Wang Manyu, successfully advanced to the quarter-finals. Additionally, the mixed doubles pair of Lin Shidong and Kuai Man secured a championship victory, defeating a pair from Hong Kong.
