Chinese national detained for credit card theft on aircraft at YIA

A Chinese national, identified by the initials KW (56), was detained by the Kulonprogo Immigration Office after being caught stealing a credit card from another passenger aboard a Citilink flight at Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA).

The incident occurred on Monday, August 24, 2026, around 1:00 PM WIB. The theft was discovered after a passenger noticed KW opening an overhead compartment and taking an item from another person's bag. The passenger reported the suspicious behavior to the cabin crew, who then alerted airport security.

Upon confrontation and search, security personnel found a credit card belonging to Hideo Natsukawa in KW's jacket pocket. Authorities confirmed the discrepancy by cross-referencing boarding passes, passports, and the stolen card. The suspect has been taken into custody for further legal processing.
